Shibari Shawn is the founder and lead instructor at the House of Knotty. He is a gay kinbaku artist and rope bondage educator living in Seattle. He is one of the co-organizers of the RopeLab: Seattle, a monthly men’s rope group for intermediate to advanced riggers tying on the masculine form. He is a member of the Seattle Men in Leather and the chair of the education committee for the Seattle Leather Service Corps. He is also a member of Suspended Animation and participated in Burning Man 2023. 

 

He started working with rope bondage in 2016 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a rope group called Friction Iowa. In 2019 he started teaching rope bondage workshops through the Homer Shibari Dojo in Homer, Alaska.

Shibari Shawn is one of the organizers of the RopeLab: Seattle, a monthly men’s rope group in Capitol Hill, and teaches regular rope bondage workshops. He teaches rope classes through Seattle Leather Service Corps on Capitol Hill and the Pan Eros Foundation at Gallery Erato. He has also been a guest presenter at Can You Knot: Los Angeles February 2023 and Rope Burn: San Francisco September 2023.

Shibari Shawn teaches monthly beginner level rope classes at the House of Knotty.  He also teaches at Pan Eros Foundation at Gallery Erato in Seattle and has been a guest presenter at Can You Knot: Los Angeles February 2023, Rope Burn: San Francisco September 2023, and Men in Rope: Austin Texas April 2024.

Over the past 4 years, Shibari Shawn has presented rope workshops at CLAW LA Leather Getaway in Los Angeles. In 2023 he was one of CLAW's keynote speakers with his presentation titled:  Tie Me Tight: Sexual Agency, Hypermasculinity, and Consensual Non Consent. In 2024 he presented rope classes at Austin Kink Weekend.
